Current Service Work Needs:
Host A Zoom Meeting
HOSTS ARE NEEDED!
The Meeting Host is responsible for “opening” the virtual meeting room 15 minutes prior to the meeting time, and closing the meeting room when the meeting is complete. The Meeting Host is NOT the Meeting Chair. The Meeting Host is responsible for ensuring that their meeting has a chair and that a format similar to what we normally follow at Northland is followed, and generally being of assistance to the Meeting Chair and attendees.
Note: You do not need a Zoom account to be a Meeting Host. Northland Steering Committee has already created Zoom meeting rooms for every meeting. We simply need you to commit to hosting what we have created.
Chair A Zoom Meeting
We are in need of Meeting Chairs who are willing to bring a topic and lead virtual meetings via the Zoom app. This does not require a regular commitment. We suggest the chair get in contact with the Meeting Host ahead of the meeting to schedule.
The Meeting Chair is responsible for calling the meeting to order at the scheduled time, bringing a topic, and following the meeting format that is typically followed at Northland (see attached documents at the bottom of this page). This includes, opening with the Serenity Prayer, Reading the AA Preamble, Asking newcomers if they would like to identify themselves, Asking a friend to read How It Works, Asking a friend to read The Traditions, Bringing a topic, Opening the meeting for discussion, Bringing the meeting to order if people are talking over each other, Bringing the meeting to a close at the scheduled time, Celebrating lengths of sobriety, Offering a Desire Chip, and Closing the meeting in the usual way.
